Beat Consumer Debt And Be Free!
Are you familiar with the term "Consumer Debt"? It's synonymous
for credit card debt, vehicle loan debt, and even personal loan
debt. Basically it is debt caused by purchasing "stuff".
It can be the easiest debt to acquire and yet all it does is
put you into bondage.
If you have an abundance of "stuff" then you are probably very
familiar with consumer debt. It can be a lot like a bad skin rash
that won't go away. Neither are very much fun.
Most of us get into debt slowly, as life happens. The car breaks
down, you need new shoes, dinner out was easier than cooking a meal
at home, you have a co-pay for your prescriptions, you really need
(want) a large screen HD television, etc.
Whatever the cause, you have more consumer debt than you want.
A better name would be "consuming debt" since that is what it does
to your finances.
What can be done?
The smartest thing you can do today is to
create a household
budget and start living on what you earn each month.
Once you have a budget in place and discover the freedom it brings
then take the next step. Create a debt reduction budget and get
serious about eliminating your debt completely. Oh what joy that
will bring!
Not all debts are equal but debt is still debt.
Even good debts like a home mortgage or a student loan have their
downside. They may benefit you through appreciation (they become
more valuable with time), but they still commit a portion of your
finances that you may not be able to afford.
Paying your good debt down quickly as well as your
consumer debt
does not have to be a bad thing. Weigh you options carefully. You
may find new ways to use your money when you have no financial obligations.
It's usually better to have options than commitments. Give yourself
some financial options.
Decide today to find ways to pay off your debt as quickly as
possible. It's like a ball and chain around your neck. Fight against
the normal impulses to add to your consumer debt. It's easy to get
credit and use credit. The credit card companies are not your friend.
They want to keep you indebted to them.
If you have children start teaching them these life lessons right
away. A lesson learned now can save them a lot of money and grief
later in life.
You will find that as you commit to getting out of debt that
your life will change for the better. Less financial stress can
do wonders for your attitude and that may open opportunities you
never saw coming.
Start today. You will be amazed at how good it feels to be free!
